THIRST - From Mouth To Skin - 25th Anniversary Show
Plus special guests FREESTONE + SONNE + DJ LEMON (It's A Sin/Chaos)
THIRST emerged from the vibrant music scene of Portsmouth in the late 1990s, carving out a niche with their melodic, grunge-infused rock. Their sound resonated with fans of the post-Nirvana era, earning them a loyal following and the band quickly gained traction on the UK live circuit.
THIRST’s big break came when they signed with ZIP Records, a US-based indie label known for championing alternative acts. Their debut album “From Mouth to Skin,” released in 2000, spawned four UK singles and showcased their gritty yet melodic style. The band began touring, supporting major acts such as Bush, Therapy?, Feeder, and My Vitriol, and even caught the attention of Danny Goldberg, Nirvana’s former manager.
Following their UK success, THIRST embarked on a USA tour, performing in clubs and college venues across the East and West coast. This tour was part of their promotional push under ZIP Records and helped them build a small but dedicated international fanbase.
Kerrang! magazine began featuring them as a rising act in the UK’s alternative scene, awarding KKKK to their debut album, and also singles 'Something Beautiful', 'Collapse', 'State Of High Piss Off!'. BBC Radio 1’s Steve Lamacq, a tastemaker for indie and rock music, gave them airplay and support, helping them reach a wider audience.
Despite promise of a second album, most of which was already recorded, the pressures of the music industry and band fatigue led to their disbandment in 2003.
2026 welcomes the 25th anniversary of 'From Mouth To Skin' and to celebrate, thirst will be performing a special show at the Wedgewood Rooms with DJ Lemon (It's A Sin/Chaos) closing the evening in old skool 90's fashion.
Thirst's long awaited second album is also planned for release in 2026 as part of a double vinyl package which will include previously unreleased rarities such as alternative single versions, hard to find B-sides, compilation album tracks, and incendiary live recordings.
