With a career spanning over 30 years (County Line/Who’s Who/The Men From Montgomery), Gary O’Donnell has experienced all the highs and lows that music can throw at him. A highly regarded singer amongst his peers, the only missing piece of his musical journey, was an album of his own.

“Three Ways From Nowhere”, was the answer to that. A singer/songwriter album, that takes you on a journey of personal grief, love and friendship.

Recorded and originally mixed throughout 2022 & 2023 both locally in the Portsmouth area; and over in the United States; it finished its journey at 128 Studios, Southsea, in June 2024, under the meticulous eye of co-producer Jon Calander; and released in September of that year, under the name Gary O’Donnell & The Dime Store Heroes.

…”My songwriting partner Gary Shaw (Jimmy Witherspoon/Sherman Robertson) told me that the album had to be about me. But I don’t have that kind of ego, so I compromised slightly, with Gary O’Donnell….& The Dime Store Heroes”, he says.

It spawned two highly played radio singles, “Five Minutes”, and his very own personal tale of his home of Portsmouth, “My Hometown”; and it took him a bit by surprise.

“All of a sudden I needed a real band!”

He didn’t have to look far. With Gavin Driver (Gtr); Terry Wyatt (Bass); Matt Latter (Piano) and the mercurial drumming talent of one Bernie Fox; he’s managed to form a fine bunch of players indeed.

“Playing our debut at The Wedgewood Rooms complex, is a real honour for me. It’s been part of my musical life throughout all of the serious bands I have ever been in. So it makes sense that it should be there.”
