Coach Party have spent the past year honing their explosive live show, playing over 120 shows in total. Particular live highlights included the 100k capacity Stade de France supporting Indochine, a headline tour which included London's Oslo, supporting The Mysterines in the spring, and Wet Leg on their sold out winter tour across the UK and Europe.

Coach Party shared their brand new single ‘Micro Aggression’ (“[a] fiery anti-banter anthem” - The Observer) on Chess Club Records earlier this month. The band also revealed ‘Micro Aggression’s powerful accompanying music video co-directed by previous collaborators Daniel Broadley (who directed previous Coach Party videos for ‘FLAG’ and ‘Weird Me Out’) and Martyna Bannister. ‘Micro Aggression’ received its very first airplay from Steve Lamacq on his BBC Radio 6 Music teatime show and has gone on to receive spins from Amy Lamé at the station as well as Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders andd Gemma Bradley at BBC Radio 1, John Kennedy at Radio X, and Danielle Perry at Absolute.

Speaking about the new single, Coach Party figurehead Jess Eastwood says: “This song goes out to those whose sense of humour largely involves micro-dosing others with hurtful and oppressive comments, followed by a “woah I was only joking” when they’re called out on it. Seriously, just learn some actual funny jokes. People like that.”

Commenting on the ‘Micro Aggression’ music video Jess says: “It’s the first of our videos to be based purely on aesthetics, and without leaning on a storyline or specific location to lead the way. The energy and incredible creativity Daniel and Martyna brought was a joy to be a part of, and we are once again in awe of what minds like theirs can achieve with mere humans like us.”

‘Micro Aggression’ is the first new music from the four piece since their Nothing Is Real EP arrived in April last year which was lauded by Dork (“five tracks of driven, direct hits”) and Gigwise (“some of their very best songs to date”). The Nothing Is Real EP featured the raucous ‘Weird Me Out’ and ferocious feminist anthem ‘FLAG’ which received press plaudits from the likes of The Observer, The Independent, NME, The Forty Five, and tmrw amongst others, and was added to the A-List at BBC Radio 6 Music following avid support from the likes of Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Craig Charles and more. Coach Party were also subsequently invited into the BBC Maida Vale studios to record a live session for Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, and received the consistent support of the station’s Clara Amfo and Gemma Bradley.

Coach Party grew up on the Isle of Wight and eventually crossed paths as avid music fans - working in venues, playing together and meeting at the same gigs. The band eventually formed after Jess and guitarist Steph Norris decided to start playing music together; quickly realising that there was something special about the pair’s songwriting and bond, guitarist Joe Perry and drummer Guy Page soon joined the ranks. Musically, Coach Party are inspired by a broad palate of artists, but always find themselves drawn back to Nirvana, Sonic Youth and The Strokes, and contemporary artists like Wolf Alice, The Big Moon and Tame Impala. Ultimately though, Coach Party’s primary drive to write and perform music comes from “the often entertaining struggle of real life.”
