Throughout 2022, The Wedding Present have been releasing a brand new 7” single every month. The songs used included the first fruits of David Gedge’s now-celebrated writing partnership with Sleeper-founder [and now also Wedding Present guitarist] Jon Stewart.

The notion of issuing a monthly 7” single is, of course, not new to The Wedding Present – they did the same thing with the ‘Hit Parade’ in 1992 – but ‘24 Songs’ shows that even classic concepts can be reinvented.

David Gedge says, “We’ve enjoyed the whole process of ‘24 Songs’ – the pressure of creating twenty-four tracks and watching the collection slowly come together. It also allowed me to reminisce about another monthly 7” challenge that we took on thirty years ago! The reaction from fans has been incredible, so it only felt right that we bring this labour of love to life in the form of a concert tour.”

Accordingly, the ‘24 Songs’ tour will take place in May 2023 and will feature the band playing tracks from the series together with other classics from their extensive repertoire.
