The annual Wedgewood Rooms Showcase offers bands or solo artists from the Portsmouth area a chance to play at our venue, gain valuable experience and contacts, and maybe win some fantastic prizes - and have fun doing it.

The 2009 Wedge Showcase will be the biggest we've run yet, featuring 48 acts playing across 12 heats in as many weeks for the final prize of support slots with touring bands, a pro photo and video shoot, recording time with world famous producer Rich Tamblyn at the Old Blacksmiths Studio.

Many Wedgewood Rooms regulars first played here as part of the showcase, and several have gone on to bigger things, notably showcase winners The Strange Death Of Liberal England.

This event will be sponsored by FOUR FOUR drum store who generously supply us with a top of the range C&C drum kit for the duration of the competition, and radio coverage will provided by EXPRESS FM's Unsigned Sessions.

All in all the prize package of single recording with accompanying video, pro photos, the resulting gigs and publicity and the money and experience earned from playing at The Wedge, make a pretty comprehensive prize package.
