Dials Festival returns to Portsmouth on the 3rd of October 2020 to bring you the very best national and local new music talent in support of Solent Mind.

Limited amount of Super Early Bird tickets will be on sale Friday 1st of November at 10am

Dials are proud to once again be working with the local mental health charity Solent Mind, to continue the discussion of mental health issues with both its audience and artists as well as raising funds and awareness for the charity.

In 2019 Dials successfully raised £2500 for the charity and we aim to improve upon that in 2020.

Emma Fernandes, Solent Mind’s Business Development Director, says, “We are very excited to be continuing our partnership with the Dials music festival for a second year. The link between mental health and music is well recognised, whether it’s playing or listening to music. Many people find music a useful part of their coping strategy, and we all know songs that are special to us and help us through tough times. By being Dials’ charity partner we hope to raise awareness of mental health, raise funds for local services, and celebrate the power of music to help people’s well being.”

The previous Dials events were praised for their friendly community spirit, quality of acts, value for money and gender diversity of the bill. Dials alumni include The Blinders, Dream Wife, Fickle Friends, Tigercub, Estrons, Jerry Williams and Black Honey. In 2015 the event won ULX’s Best Small Festival award.

Dials festival is a single access wristband event on Albert Road in Southsea with all venues located just a short walk from each other. Some of the organisations involved in the festival include Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms, Strong Island Recordings, Hong Kong Gardeners Club and Breaking More Waves Music Blog.

Abbie Eales, festival director said: “The mission of the Dials team is to create events to support new musical artists promoting a culture of discovery and inclusion, all in aid of Solent Mind. Dials is a festival of discovery and innovation, bringing the very best new acts to Portsmouth. We want to ensure we are inclusive of all members of the musical community, particularly working to increase the profile of those who have perhaps been historically overlooked by the festival scene: women, BME and LGBTQ+ artists alongside people with disabilities. Above all Dials will be a celebration of artistic expression and the joy that music can bring, recognising that it can be a lifeline for some.
