This is a new folk ballad about Mary Macarthur & the women chainmakers. The folk music is written and arranged by world-renowned folk musician John Kirkpatrick.

Rouse Ye Women! tells the story of the women chainmakers of Cradley Heath in the West Midlands. In 1910 they began a successful ten-week strike, led by the charismatic union campaigner Mary Macarthur, to more than double their earnings and establish the principle of a national minimum wage.

The show is compelling and humorous, and contains many original specially written folk songs by John Kirkpatrick.

Cast includes exciting new singer Bryony Purdue and established folk singer Rowan Godel (Oyster Band with Neil Gore, founder and core member of Townsend Theatre Productions.

There is a strong storytelling element in this engrossing and though provoking Folk Ballad with stirring songs, music, poetry and movement.
