We are now accepting submissions for the Wedge unsigned showcase 2017. Previous winners and finalists have gone on to tour throughout the UK and Europe, support chart-topping artists, as well as perform at major festivals that include T in the Park and Glastonbury.

Each year we receive hundreds of applications from across the South. After listening to every submission we will contact the best artists and organise them into heats. Each heat will be split into genres so fear not acoustic artists, you won't have to worry about playing on the same bill as 4 death metal bands!

The heats will take place in the Edge, with the finals taking place in The Wedgewood Rooms. Only the artists with the highest audience and judges vote will progress to the finals, so it's crucial you rally your fans for each show, but that you also make sure you’re as tight as possible for your set!

We are currently working on putting together an amazing roster of industry judges for the showcase. Previous judges have worked in all areas of the Music Industry, from major record labels, management companies, tour managers, touring engineers as well as artists and session musicians. Locally we also have a great selection of judges from promoters as well as radio presenters, bloggers and journalists.

The winners of the showcase will at least win studio time, rehearsal time, a slot at Icebreaker Festival.

The Wedge showcase is a chance to get your music heard by industry professionals, perform on one of UK's most iconic stages, as well as get your hands on some quality prizes that can boost your artistic career!

So if you're an artist...whatever your age and whatever your genre, get in contact with us today at

and enter yourself into The Wedge showcase!

Please only enter if you are within a 20 mile radius of Portsmouth.

To celebrate our 25th  anniversary, The Wedgewood Rooms are teaming up with local artists to bring you exclusive limited edition Wedgewood Rooms T-shirts.

The aim of these T-shirts is to both celebrate the Wedgewood Rooms history, but also to promote some of Portsmouth’s best artists!

This project will be an extension of those previous collaborations between local artists and the venue.

Each local artist has based their design on what The Wedgewood Rooms means to them in their own unique artistic style. For each design we will print a limited batch of 50 T-shirts, with a new shirt being launched every few months.

The first T-shirt we will be releasing is by Dani Hackett, a local artist who works at the venue!

Read below to see her previous work and hear the inspiration behind her design.

“My T-shirt design for the Wedgewood Rooms was a particular interest of mine since it has been such a big part of my life for the past few years. I wanted to portray the nautical background of Southsea, and also capture the history of the area. I was inspired by old engravings by JMW Turner, an artist that captured the ferocity and beauty of the ocean, and the combination of the waves with the impressive old style ships. Obviously, being a music venue, I couldn’t leave out the aspect of music, and so I wanted to merge the two ideas together with the musical instruments to create a lively image that captured the energy of a Wedgewood Rooms gig.”
